Wood-burning (Pyrography)
… this is the art of decorating wooden objects by burning a picture onto them. Favourites are the decoration of wooden boxes, door panels, the making of decorative wall plates and other wooden objects.
The technique is also used for the decoration of leather items (belts, bags etc.).
We deliver wood-burners, complete wood-burning devices with simple styluses or with professional loop-shaped tips and with effectful decora- tion stamps.
Books
As many of our chemical products are so versatile and multi-faceted, it is important to provide special instruc- tions for a deeper knowledge of the matter. Especially because many products can be combined with others, making it possible to realize even more effects.
Some of the products manufactured by CREATEC require a basic knowledge, which is provided with in these special books.
The following books are available
- Coatings with Cold Glaze
- Self-made moulds
- Embedding in synthetic resin
- Encaustic (painting with hot wax)
- Enjoy glass engraving
- The art of candle dipping
Colouraplast
The basic material for this technique are little polystyrene pearls, that will be molten in a metal or silicone mould in the oven, thus mak- ing the desired decoration objects.
Colouraplast are modern, non-toxic pellets which may be used by children, adults and art- ists. They are “the” design material of the 21st century. They comply with the EN71 regulation and are available in 20 different colours.
The pellets can be used to make a picture mo- tive, or they can be applied on glass objects with the aid of a special glue. They will be mol- ten in the oven (toast or baking oven) at a tem- perature of 200°C. Transparent, glass-like art- works will be obtained, which we know as “col- oured disks”, clock faces, dream-catchers, can- dle-lights, decoration objects and christmas tree hangers.
Beside the pellets, our product range comprises a special glue, making it possible to melt the pellets onto glass, metal and ceramic objects. With this technique it is possible to create col- oured coatings on glass objects, looking like “Murano” glass.
Encaustic
This is surely one of the oldest painting tech- niques. Special painting tools allow the mak- ing of enchanted and precious pictures.
A small painting iron, looking like a small travel iron, takes center stage in this creative technique. The encaustic paint will be molten on its base plate and will then be applied onto the encaustic paper. Painting with hot wax is fascinating and creative.
As the technique is easy to learn, it is not only used in schools or for arts and crafts at home, but also for occupational therapy.
Encaustic does not require many materials: painting iron, wax blocks (available in 28 different colours) and en- caustic paper. For advanced users, we supply as well an encaustic painting pen (stylus, brush and cauterey).
Our book „Encaustic - painting with hot wax“ provides a step-by-step instruction for the artful creation of pre- cious encaustic pictures.

Fusing
For being able to cast models (such as ash trays, cups, jewels etc.) from molten, liquid glass, moulds made of ceramics, metal or ce- ramic fibre (coderite) are used. With “HGF” Hot Glass Casting Paste it is possible to make pic- ture plates on which the glass plates sag down while becoming soft, thus copying their struc- ture.
HGF Hot Glass Casting Paste can also be em- ployed for coating finished wax models used with the “Lost Wax” or “Pâte de Verre” tech- niques.

Icon replicas
The purchase of an original icon is very expensive. And as most people do not con- sider icons to be an investment but a deco- ration, the possibility of making authentic looking icons is used today by skillful art- ists.
We have developed a technique for creating self-made icon replicas which is even available to laymen.
We supply icon boards, pictures, transfer varnish, craquelling glaze, gilding dispersion, composition gold foils, patinas and coats.
Cold Glaze
This epoxy resin system is based on a high qual- ity, transparent 2-component material. It is used as a liquid glaze for coating painted surfaces, or surfaces covered with other materials, e.g. napkin pictures, glitter, wooden veneer, tesserae etc. The surface will get a highly brilliant, weather proof coating, also resistant to chemicals.
The glaze can be coloured with special dyes (transparent, opaque or metallic) and this allows to create enamel-like surface effects on almost any subsurface made of glass, metal, ceramics, plaster, stone, wood, styrofoam etc. Simple, unimpressive or out-of-fashion objects can be restored so effectfully that they will look like precious treasures.
The highly brilliant glaze surface is comparable to glass, ceramics or porcelain. We have published a book for the proper handling of this material: “Coatings with Cold Glaze”. It does not only explain every- thing about this technique, but also gives a step-by-step instruction for the different design techniques and how to combine them, for making fantastic decoration items, jewels or objects of daily use.
The Cold Glaze product range is rather small. It com- prises the resin and the hardener, a thinner, a thickener, a resin remover, resin dyes and the reference book.
Candle Gel
The making of gel candles is a fascinating novelty, although it is based on almost the same procedures as the regular candle mak- ing.
The way gel candles are made is similar to wax candles. But the composition contains some other ingredients, e.g. paraffine, white oil, vaseline and carbon hydride (for preventing the candle from crystallising when cooling down). The gel candle will thus stay soft, glassy and transparent.
Candle gel can be coloured with transparent gel pigments. Waxed cot- ton wick is used for them.
The candles burn without leaving any odour, that is why fragrances can be mixed in.
Coloured gel candles will change their colour, making spectacular effects during the first 3 weeks. They burn longer than paraffine can- dles and are very popular because they allow so many design possibilities, e.g. by embed- ding stones, shells, glass beads etc.
The product range comprises beside the can- dle gel, which only needs to be heated and filled in a receptacle, the gel dyes, fragrance oils, and tea-light wicks.
Candle making
The very old material “wax” did not only fas- cinate apiculturists, but also people who used it for candle making. This is still the case in our times.
The multitude of new wax materials, wicks, mould, colours and techniques gives way to always new possibilities of application.
In this product programme you will find all important wax materials: paraffine, stearine, candle sand, crystal wax, composition and beeswax.
Of course you will find wax pigments, wicks, fragrance oils, dyes, var- nishes and moulds as well.
To the making of a nice candle belongs as well its decoration once it is finished. This can be done with very thin self-adhesive wax foils, me- tallic deco strips or prefabricated candle decors, respectively decors for being casted in moulds.
The newest product is a micro-wave wax, that can be molten within five minutes in the micro-wave oven. It can then be filled immediately in the prepared candle moulds.
Candle dipping
In former times, one did not say „candle dipping“ but „candle drawing“. This manufac- turing technique does still exist. It charac- terises the industrial process of this pro- duction technique.
This is the classical process of candle making. A wick is dipped into the hot wax compound, then taken off again and air-dried for becom- ing solid. Then it will be dipped again into the hot wax. This procedure is repeated several times. After each bath a new wax coat will stick to it, making it thicker until a candle is obtained.
As a result, the well known pillar candles will be obtained; they can be single or multicoloured.
There is also another technique: dipping of old, outfashioned candles for giving them a new look.
For making dipped candles you need a melt- ing device allowing to melt several coloured wax compounds at a time; so you will be able to make multi-coloured candles.
The basic material for this way of making candles is a high quality candle dipping wax; due to its chemical composition, the fast pro- duction of dipped candles becomes possible.
As for the regular candle making a special cotton wick is needed, for candle dipping only flat wicks are suited.
As far as wax pigments are concerned, there are some differences to respect. The user needs to decide if he wants to make candles out of plain coloured wax compound or if he wants to make “wax lights” to be decorated later with coloured wax coat.
Candle dipping is so interesting, that we have edited a detailed instruction book „The art of candle dipping”. The book does not only explain the technique but also the ways of decorating finished pillar candles.

Metal refinement
The coating of metal parts made of copper, bronze, brass, tin and other alloys is made with metal patina, metal care products or with dyes, in order to protect the metal from oxidation or for changing their colour so that they will get a modern or antique (rustic) look.
We supply for this purpose several chemicals allowing a long-lasting surface finish. Browning of copper, brass and bronze is quite popular; it is done with a metal stain. By applying this material onto the degreased surface, the metal surface will be coloured: alternatively brown or black, in many shades from light to dark.
And for preventing any discolourations due to humidity or weather im- pacts, the metal surface should be covered with a Zapon Lacquer (protective varnish), available in matt and brilliant. As an alternative, a coating with oil containing anti-oxidation agent can be applied.
Tin surfaces can also be stained with the patinas supplied for Tiffany glass. See page > Chemicals for Tiffany glass!
Model-making
The possibility of using our products as well for other applications becomes evident in the model- making and the construction design fields, where they are often used as “problem solvers”.
Landscape model-making
Artex Modeling Tissue in particular, together with model plasters, is often employed here, as it is a design material that can be formed in any way. Products from the paint and the glue product range as well are used for this application, e.g. Paint for Mod- elmaking, Landscape Glue, Stone and Ballast Glue.
Very interesting are also putties for the design of facades, rock faces, lakes and waterways. For bringing the models to perfection coloured flockings are used for designing meadows, fields, waysides or snow landscapes. The product range is completed by products for the imi- tation of water (lakes, rivers and waterfalls).
Boat and aircraft models:
In the classic boat and aircraft modeling, styrofoam parts are used, which will be reinforced by balsa wood and a thin surface fleece. These parts can be held together (glued) with dissolver free Cold Glaze. It provides at the same time a coloured coating and a smooth surface.
Construction making:
For realising technical constructions, shapes casted (in a mould) from polyester or epoxy resins are required. This touches the mould making field, allowing to copy the models made of wood, plaster or wax (e.g. axles, cogwheels, arbors) in a way that they can be operated together.
Modeling
Modeling is often the basis of any crafting activ- ities implying creative designing and forming. While in former times modeling was made in most cases with clay, nowadays the air drying modeling pastes prevail. There is not furnace needed and shrinking of the material is less.
Further, working with clay has become easier because of the newly de- veloped casting materials, e.g. Formalate-Modellfix. It allows to make a rubber-elastic mould from a newly made clay model, for even more than one cast.
Beside the classic, re-usable plasticine (available in several variations such as soft, medium hard, hard, slightly adhesive etc.) we supply also air-drying modeling pastes, suited not only for modeling but as well for being modeled as a paste-like casting slip into a mould. This broadens the possibilities of artistic design considerably.
Traditionally, paper and wood like substances are the ideal modeling materials, such as paper and papier-mâché, but as well the “Modellino” which is made from natural raw-materials. These are modeling powders to be mixed with water and which will become as solid and hard as wood; they can also be worked just like wood, however without having to pay attention to knotholes or grains.
At the center of this creative forming we have the ARTEX-Modeling Tissue. This is a design material for making collages and 3-dimensional figures, e.g. by coating inflatable rubber forms or balloons. It is also suited for making casts from reliefs; the flexible relief cast can then be glued on clay jugs, columns or wall surfaces. Once dried, they can be worked and finished.
Artex-Modeling Tissue is available in different variations (60, 80 ,100, 120, 150 and 200 mm wide) and in low-priced bulk-packs of 1,000 and 2,000 gr (1,000 gr equal 1.8 sqm).

Paper-Making
For paper-making short and long manila hemp and cotton fibres are combined, in order to obtain a stable paper surface. Fillers, such as kaolin, steatite and chalk are added for obtaining a solid paper surface. Cellulose, available as “Cellcoll” (glue) is used as binding agent.
Besides, we supply very thin paper compounds. Apply a very thin coat- ing on film; once dried it can easily be peeled off again. You will obtain an unique, thin and coloured paper which is a favorite for designing book covers, collages and skillful paper decorations. This product is available in the colours pink, violet, lilac, light blue, ice green, yellow-green, pastel yellow, ochre, orange and ivory.

Soapstone Chemistry
When working with soapstone there is always the risk that the stone could break. An almost finished sculpture would then become useless. At least, this was the case until yesterday: to- day we have the transparent Soapstone glue „Steacoll“.
It allows to glue broken pieces of soapstone. Once the glue is cured, finish the patch by carefully rasping it, and it will become invis- ible! Besides, this special glue is also suited for glueing broken semi-precious stones, ... and for making the finished soapstone figures look even more precious we have developed some polishing agents giving them a magnificent low gloss finish:
Soapstone Polishing Oil
A high quality, transparent special oil; it is easy to be worked into the absorbent soapstone and will provide a matt de luxe finish once the stone is saturated.
Soapstone Polishing Wax
For enhancing the colours of finished soapstone sculptures, the stone surface is treated with this agent. The wax-oil mixture will be immedi- ately absorbed, leaving a very thin wax layer on the stone surface, bringing out beautifully the texture of the colours. At the same time, the silky low gloss finish will protect the stone against humidity and weather impacts.
Steatol-Brightener
This solvent-containing brightener permeates the soapstone immediate- ly and saturates it, so that the next layer of brightener can be applied within a short moment. The contained solvents will evaporate instantly. That is why the material consumption of this product is less, compared to other care products.
Tiffany-Chemistry
For assembling and soldering pieces of glass cut out of precious replica glass, some chemical products are required, making this arts and crafts technique easier and providing perfectly looking results.
Mirror Protection Varnish
Murals, and in particular those designed additionally with mirror glass, require clean cutting edges. For allowing these objects to look well even after some years, this special varnish needs to be applied on the back- side and on the cutting edges, before framing them with self adhesive copper foil. This will seal the surfaces and protect them against humid- ity, vapours and chemicals (soldering fluid) etc.
Soldering Fluid ‚Mirror flux’
Standard soldering fluid, well-proven in particular for tinning the glass pieces framed with copper foil.
Soldering Fluid ‚containing fruit acid“
This almost contaminant-free soldering fluid smells nice and is easy to be worked.
Soldering Oil P 7
Mirror surfaces, and in particular their cutting edges, are sensitive to chemical products; if not treated in a proper way this can lead to efflo- rescences. In order to avoid this kind of problem, the low-impact sol- dering oil P7 is used.
Glass/ Stencil Cleaner
Dissolver-free cleaning agent for removing oil, grease and dirt residues from the glass.
Metallic Surfaces Cleaner
Removes grease, oil and dirt from soldered seams and other metallic materials. It is used as well for cleaning (degreasing) metal surfaces before bronzing them.
Tiffany-Patina
The silver coloured tin seam will be oxidised so that the surface will change its colour. Depending on the patina used, the soldering seam will get a dark brown, copper, light copper, black or bronze shade.
Antioxidant agents
For protecting the patinated soldering joints from oxigenate due to weather or humidity impacts, they are treated with the oil containing antioxidant (Finishing Spray).
All other metal parts as well can be protected with this product against oxidation.

Waterpearls
These little transparent polymer pearls are poured in a receptacle filled with water. Within a short period of time they will ab- sorb the water and their diameter will grow until they are 90 times larger than before. They will take the shape of precious crystal balls. Filled in vases, cups etc. they will make a fantastic decoration, possibly com- bined with flowers or candles (tea-candles).
Waterpearls are available in the colours crystal clear, red, violet, blue, green, or- ange and yellow. It is also possible to make them on the basis of the raw pearls. The required water can be coloured with Flower- fluid Dye and Conservation Agent.
Waterpearls are a favorite product as they allow to create magnificent flower vase decorations, for example by combining different colours of them. Their colour will change by and by, showing a fantastic play of colours.
Tin Figure Casting
So far, tin figure casting has been a technique reserved to ambitious artists who manufactured replicas in self casted moulds. For some years, CREARTEC makes a welcomed comeback of tin fig- ure casting possible, by having devel- oped some magnificent mould series.
At the center of the product range there are our silicone moulds, in which the tin figures can be casted.
Beside the heat-proof silicone casting moulds, our product range in- cludes some interesting accessories, thus supplying everything what is needed for melting the tin and casting the figures: electric melting pots, melting spoons, oil containing mould sand, tin, rasps, paints and pati- nas.
For the making of classic figures, the following moulds are available
